The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail
by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee.

Produced around the country under the American Playwrights Theatre program, this drama opens with Thoreau in jail for refusing to pay taxes to a government conducting a war of aggression in Mexico, at midpoint shows Emerson visiting him, and ends on the morning of his release. Scenes portray his return from Harvard where he idolized Emerson, his attempt to establish a transcendentalist school, his career as a handyman and tutor in Emerson's household, his romance and his friendship with an illiterate cellmate. The end is a grotesque dream in which the characters take up guises in a mortal assault on Mexico.

"Absolutely fascinating... Imaginatively commanding. " - Washington Post

"Scene after scene moves you to laughter or close to tears." - Newsday

Produced by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH, INC.

OEdTA NE AREA STARs

Northeast StARs (Student Area Representatives) are troupe members from all over the Northeast Ohio area who meet in order to plan the Northeast Area Thespian Conference.  It is a great way to network with other theatre students, as well as be involved in theatre and share your Thespian ideas and enthusiasm in something greater than just your school program.  In order to be a STO (State Thespian Officer) from Northeast Area, you must first be a StAR.

Combo Platter
by Mark Harvey Levine

For the second year in a row, our Winter One-Acts will feature a series of short plays by Mark Harvey Levine.

Little Shop of Horrors
Book & Lyrics by Howard Ashman
Music by Alan Menken
Based on the film by Roger Corman
Screenplay by Charles Griffith

Seymour is a nerdy floral clerk with a knack for plants, but not much else. However, one peculiar plant he’s tending might just be his ticket to fame, fortune - and the girl of his dreams. There’s only one teeny — but ‘growing’ — problem: This plant has an unquenchable thirst for the red stuff (type O, A, or B... he’s not picky). Mixing Motown, B-movies, and The American Dream, Little Shop of Horrors is the screamingly funny, gleefully twisted, out-of-this-world hit musical.

Presented through special arrangment with MUSIC THEATRE INTERNATIONAL (MTI).
