HONORS & AWARDS

The Troubadour Drama Club take part in a variety of performance competitions throughout the year.  Below are some of the details of the recognitions that we are quite proud of.
2015-16

 

Ohio Educational Theatre Association

  • Christopher Woods selected as 2016-17 State Thespian Officer

2014-15

 

Ohio Educational Theatre Association

  • Fools selected as a Featured Full Length Production at 2015 State Conference

  • Luke Lauterjung cast in 2015 All-Ohio Production, Spring Awakening.

2013-14

 

Ohio Educational Theatre Association

  • Amanda and MacKenzie Deighen win double superiors for Duet Musical Theatre Dance.  Selected for "Critic's Choice" showcase.

2011-12

 

Ohio Educational Theatre Association

  • The Hoban Troubadours are recognized as "Bronze Honor Troupe" 2012.

  • David Scarpitti and Joe Yost won a superior in their duet acting performance. Maddy Goosmann received an excellent in musical theater and Amanda Deighen won an excellent in musical dance categories, 2012.

  • Matt Kannel selected as 2012-13 State Thespian Officer.

  • David Scarpitti, Laura Eastbourn, and Kolin Morgenstern cast in 2012 All-Ohio Production, The Laramie Project.

 

ESU National Shakespeare Competition

  • Joe Yost won Honorable Mention at the Shakespeare competition in Cleveland Feb. 25, 2012. Of the 30 contestants, Yost was among six who qualified for the finals.

  • At the school level, Joe Yost was chosen as Hoban's first place representative and Sophia Zaynor served as alternate, 2012.

 

Ohio Magazine

  • Troupe Directors Russell Kwitkowski and Mary Lou Swinerton receive Ohio Magazine's Excellence in Education Recognition for their involvement with this season's Dead Man Walking Project.

2010-11

 

Ohio Educational Theatre Association

  • The Hoban Troubadours are recognized as "Gold Honor Troupe" 2011.

  • Jacob Styskal selected for "Critic's Choice" in the IE Short Film Category, 2011.

  • Brock Barber selected as 2011-12 State Thespian Officer.

 

ESU National Shakespeare Competition

  • Michael Younes selected as Northeast Ohio's"Critic's Choice", 2011.

  • At the school level, Michael Younes was chosen as Hoban's first place representative and Alan Jankowski served as alternate, 2011.

 

Cleveland Theatre Conference

  • David Scarpitti and Joe Yost awarded "Best Performance" trophy for Almost, Maine, 2011

  • Maggie Brown awarded "Extraordinary Stage Presence" for Almost, Maine, 2011

  • Sophia Zaynor awarded silver medal for Almost, Maine, 2011

  • Stephen English and Matt Rossi awarded bronze medals for Almost, Maine, 2011

  • In 2011, Hoban was the only troupe where all of its members took home an award.

2009-10

 

Ohio Educational Theatre Association

  • Blake Gross selected as sound designer/technician as part of the 2010 All-Ohio Production, Indian Blood.

  • Michael Younes selected as 2010-11 State Student Officer

  • Oliver Twist selected as a Featured Full Length Production at 2010 State Conference 

 

 

2008-09

 

Ohio Educational Theatre Association

  • Dinner with the MacGuffins selected as a Featured 45-Minute Production at 2009 State Conference

  • Ethan Stallman's script, The Comedy of Eris, selected as a featured playwrite at 2009 State Conference

 

Cleveland Theatre Conference

  • Shamara Costa awarded gold medal for It's All in the Toner, 2009

  • Nick Kannel and Emily Bulgrin awarded bronze medals for It's All in the Toner, 2009

2009-10

 

Ohio Educational Theatre Association

  • Katie Jenks awarded 2nd place, monologue competition, 2008 State Conference; She proceeded to compete on the National level in Lincoln, NE.

2001-02

 

Educational Theatre Association

  • The Educational Theatre Association grants Archbishop Hoban High School Thespian Troupe #6411 Charter, under the Troupe Director Jason Anderson.
